Day 29: A song that gives you the creeps

Man, I'm such a visual person that this is a really difficult one to figure out. Songs don't stay with me. In the same sense that I don't listen to music to focus my emotion, I don't carry them with me afterwards. I don't often get a song stuck in my head to the point of frustration. I focus on songs that defy my expectations, and even focus on songs that fulfill all of my expectations (It's just as rare both ways).

So I have trouble hearing lyrics in songs and a lot of trouble remembering lyrics after a few months away from it. I think because I'm so good at short term memorization (got me through high school) that I can memorize a song in choir, or how I can memorize a script for a stage play, yet I couldn't tell you even a single line from a play that I was in years ago.

But songs that have well-defined aspects of my life are uncommon and very intriguing. The following song does not creep me out, but it illustrates very well what it was like dealing with depression during college. It almost creeps me out how easily I can link parts of my college experience with parts of the song through metaphor. The end of the song always makes me sad, but it's a positive kind of catharsis that I need once in a while.

Day 28: A song that needs never be heard again

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Anything by Nickleback.

Especially Something In Your Mouth.

I imagine the song writing pitch went something like this:

"Hey! Now that we are rich and invincible, let's do a song about BLOWJOBS LOL!"

"HAHA! That sounds awesome, Chad Kroeger! But aren't you afraid that the overt sexuality will ruin our reputation?"

"NONSENSE! I have artistic subtlety! No one will even know what it's about. THIS PLAN CANNOT FAIL!"

They suck.

Day 27: A song in your FLAC folder no one else has

Can't link it if no one else has it. Herp a derp on this meme thing.

I like the following song.

Day 26: Favorite music video

Ugh, I've been linking music videos this whole time... And how do we even define music video?

I'll just link more DragonForce:

Nevermind: (cartoon violence and nudity to follow)

Day 24: Favorite cover song

Easy. Well... damn... I have two by the same band that are my favorites.

The video is pretty awful. I don't want to see that guy lip-sync. I also hate them live.

But, the second:

I cannot adequately express how much better that cover is than the original. Again, however, and for different reasons, that video is awful.

Oh crap! I just remembered my OTHER OTHER FAVORITE cover:

That guy is pretty great.

Day 23: Favorite Duet

I'm trying to get all of these songs down in one sitting, and it's taking way too long already, but since reddit is semi-down, I guess I'll manage.

Favorite duet...

I sang Come What May with me then-girlfriend, Angie, in high school, and have always liked it. But I dunno if it's my favorite.

My newest favorite, or perhaps CURRENT favorite is:

Day 22: Favorite song from a movie

This was tricky for about two minutes, but I always think fondly of the final battle song in the final Matrix movie. The movie by itself was cool, I thought, but as a trilogy, I could have done with less biblical allegory and more dystopia. More sense also. Less Keanu.

Hey, wasn't the military guy in the last Matrix the same dude in Dollhouse? The black guy? I can't be bothered to look it up right now.

Day 21: A song that makes you want to break stuff

This was the first song to ever bug me, though today, it's just chuckle worthy. Unfortunately, my sister loved this movie growing up and they play this song about two hundred times in the 90 minute film.
